The Education Fund offers various programs that might be of interest to members covered under the collective bargaining agreement; and is responsible for developing courses to assist members in upgrading and enhancing their skills in order to function more effectively in carrying out their responsibilities.

The Seminars will force the member to address some of their concerns about saving, meeting financial obligations and managing their money in order to survive in the future.  For many, retirement means achievement, fulfillment, and great expectations!  For others, it may signal uncertainty, confusion, and apprehension.  Early planning combined with prudent savings and investment strategies can have a significant impact on one’s lifestyle.

From time to time, Workshops, of special interest:  Parent and Child Joint Partnership Saturday Program:  offered to the member, the spouse, and the dependent child  and Setting Up Your Online Account:  designed to assist members in setting up a personal e-mail address and establishing an online account with 1180 to register for all courses offered by the Education Fund and – in the very near future – that same account can be used to view the status of your Benefits Claims

Exam Prep Programs are developed  based on the yearly examination schedule prepared by the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services.   and are conducted on an as-needed basis on weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings. The Education Fund is also responsible for developing courses that are designed to assist members in developing study habits, identifying exam strategies, for multiple choice questions, education & experience forms, essay, orals, in-basket exercises), and reviewing test-taking-techniques. 

 Workplace Literacy   courses are designed to assist members in improving skills in:  computers:  administration:  communication:  personal development.
