Denial of Supplemental Benefits – Appeal Process
In the event that the receipts and documentation that you have submitted for reimbursement have been refused or denied, and you disagree with the decision, retirees may enact the following procedure. (1) Within sixty (60) days after receipt of the notice ofdenial or other adverse benefit determination, submit request for review of claim in writing to the CWA Local 1180 Board of Trustees.  (2) In connection with the request for review, the Claimant may submit written comments, documents, records, and other information relating to the claim.(3)  A decision regarding the claim will be made by the Trustees, or their duly authorized designee, within 90 days from the date the claim is received by the Fund Office, unless it is determined that special circumstances require an extension of time for processing the claim, not to exceed an additional 90 days. Thursday October 5 -Retiree Benefit Overview – Understanding PICA and your Prescription Drug Benefit-Join us for an open discussion regarding retiree health benefits with an emphasis on prescription drugs and the PICA program which includes psychotropic, injectable, chemotherapy and asthma drugs. Time: 11:00 am -1:00 pm   Light lunch provided.


Wednesday October 11- Sell your stuff on Amazon, eBay and Craigslist-Want to unload an old CD collection or jewelry? In this course you’ll learn how to SAFELY and SECURELY set up an online account, display your items online, fulfill orders and, of course, collect the money!

Thursday October 12- Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club – Upon arrival we will be greeted by the wonderful staff with complimentary wine, beer, cheese and crackers and German Music! The chef will demonstrate how he makes the German noodles called “Schwaebische Eier-Spaetzle” and a great lunch will follow. The three entrée choices are:  Sauerbraten, Roast Loin of Pork or Wiener Schnitzel.  All entrees are served with spaetzle and red cabbage. Please give your meal entrée when call to RSVP. Departure Time: 9:00 am sharp! Approximate return time: 6:00pm Price: $60.00


Thursday October 12- Photography Trip to Great Falls National Park, and Lambert Castle in Paterson, NY-Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park is site to one of the nation's largest waterfalls, with beautiful views above and below the rushing water. A short bus ride takes us to Lambert Castle, which was built in the style of castles in Great Britain. ($5.00 admission.) It offers views of the Hudson and NYC, along with a museum inside.  Eat at local restaurants, or bring your lunch. Meet at Port Authority Bus Terminal (9:45am) and take the 10:10am NJ Transit bus #161 to Paterson ($7 each way).
Returning on the 4:30 bus to Port Authority.


Wednesday October 18-Shopping, Paying and even (gasp!) Banking Online! How to do it SAFELY-Question: "Do I have to use my credit card online?" Answer: NO! There other ways to pay! Learn how to buy and pay bills online without giving strangers your private information. Time:10:00am-2:00 pm


Friday October 20 -Hunterdon Hills Playhouse-Presents International Artist Terry Lee Goffee Starring in  “Train of Love - A Tribute to Jonny Cash”  Some of the  classic songs  that will be preformed are “Boy Name Sue”, “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, “ I Walk the Line” and many more. Nobody does Johnny Cash like Terry Lee Goffee!  Price: $65 includes lunch, dessert buffet and a great show. Departure 9:30am approximate return time: 5:30pm.

Wednesday October 25-TAKING SELFIES THAT DO YOU PROUD-Learn how to take a GOOD selfie with your smartphone, tablet or even camera, use a selfie-stick (street vendors sell them for $5), and upload your pics to Facebook, Instagram, etc. IN CLASSROOM AND OUTDOORS.

Thursday October 26- Photography Trip to Phillipsburg Manor “Live-Action Museum” in Sleepy Hollow, NY-Philipsburg Manor is a recreation of a colonial era house and mill. The tour includes historical reenactments of the lives of owners, workers and slaves in period costumes. The tour lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. Tickets are $10 seniors, $12 adults. Also, nearby Tarrytown is a quaint Hudson river town that boasts many nice restaurants.Meet at Grand Central Terminal (GCT) at 10:00am to take the 10:20am Metro-North train Tarrytown ($10.75 adults/$7.00 seniors) and take a short cab ride to Sleep Hollow. The cab fare is about $4 per person.  YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED to purchase tickets in advance, either by phone - 914-366-6900 - or on the website: www.hudsonvalley.org/store Order the following Tour: October 26 at 12:00pm. RETURN TRIP: 4:38 to GCT.


Thursday October 26- Optical Benefit and Hearing Benefit Overview with guest speakers CPS Optical and CPS Hearing- Join in on an open discussion regarding your optical and hearing aid benefit provided by CPS (Comprehensive Professional Systems) one of your no-cost optical benefit options and hearing benefit provider for retirees.  Time: 11:00 am -1:00 pm Refreshments Provided.


Friday October 27 -Restaurant Club -Uno’s Pizzeria &Grill in New York is a restaurant known for  Chicago-style deep dish pizza, if you are not in the mood for Numero Uno pizza , you will be able to choose Chicken Parmesan Pasta, Baked Haddock, a delicious Cheese Burger with fries or a Cobb salad so there’s something for everyone! Time:1:00pm Prefixed: $25.00 Location: 220 E. 86th Street.


Monday October 30 -Benefits on the Computer-Social Security-(www.ssa.gov)Join the retiree benefits staff and our expert computer staff in our computer lab for a two-hour class on finding valuable information on the Social Security website!  Space is limited. Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm.  No computer experience is necessary, but if you do not have a computer or tablet and don’t plan to use the knowledge, please be courteous to your fellow retirees and leave the space for them.  (Thank you!)


Tuesday October 31-Come Mix & Mingle with staff and fellow retires at this festive event. Come as you are or wear a costume! Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm Refreshments Served.
