Benefits in Brief:

January 1st starts the filing period for your Prescription Reimbursement and General Medical Reimbursement.  Do you have all of your paperwork in order?  Did you sort it?  Have you opened all the envelopes?  Do you know what is needed to file?  If you need assistance, look at the Retiree Division schedule of events and sign up for a workshop or come down on one of the Benefit Drop in days to get help! Call the Retiree Division for any assistance you may require for your reimbursement!  We are here to help you!

Mondays January 22- Intro to computers and windows10: Making life easier with your computer -Wouldn’t you like to: Create a flyer or newsletter? Pay parking tickets online? Know where your UPS andFedEx packages are? Go to free concerts & events in NYC? Come learn all this, and more! Time:10:00am-12:00pm


Mondays January 22, 29-Your Mac and You - Finally, a class just for Mac users! You'll learn the Mac way of doing things (which is much simpler than Windows), including email, photos, cool apps, music, iCloud, backing up, and much more! Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm


Tuesdays January 23, 30-Take Control of Your Android Smartphone and Tablet- We cover setting up your device, installing great apps and MUCH more. Time:10:00am-12:00pm

Wednesday January 10- Medicare & You- Do you have questions about Medicare?  Is this the year you turn 65? If so come in and learn everything you need to know. A representative from the Dept. of Aging will also discuss Medicare A, B and D.  Refreshments will be served. Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm


Thursday January 11- Retiree Benefit Overview with Highlight on Prescription Drug & General Medical Reimbursement-It is time to organize your paperwork to submit your claim forms for your benefit reimbursement. Come  learn what needed for the reimbursement.  Lynda & Indra will take you step by step to complete your papers.  Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Come in out of the cold before the meeting for a hot cup of chicken soup! Time: 11:45am – 12:45 pm


Friday January 12- A day of Remembrance of Dr. King -In recognition of Dr. King’s great achievements, join us for a birthday celebration in his honor.Time: 11:30am -2:30pm Refreshments


Wednesday January 17- Benefit Q & A-If you have questions regarding your benefits, reimbursement filing, or Medicare. This is a great seminar to attend! Time: 11:00 am- 1:00 pm 


Wednesday January 24- The Equifax Breach!!!-You may have heard that one of the three credit reporting companies that holds all of the data regarding your entire credit history was breached in October.  Come to the third floor computer lab today to find out if your data was compromised and if so, to put a lock on your account to reduce or eliminate the likelihood that your identity can be stolen. This is a very easy process that we will do with you. Time:10:00am-2:00pm


Thursday January 25- Photography Trip to Princeton University and Art Museum-Princeton is the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of the nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution. The Princeton University Art Museum features works from antiquity, as well as stimulating and thought-provoking works exploring ways in which artists represent and engage with American history and wrestle with a legacy that puts Princeton at the heart of its long association with slavery. After which we'll dine at one of the favorite local eateries, which include Hoagie Haven, 30 Burgers and Mamoun's Falafel. WE ARE MEETING AT PENN STATION (34TH ST) AT 9:30am AND TAKING THE 10:00am NEW JERSEY TRANSIT TRAIN TO PRINCETON JUNCTION. Then, we’ll take the FREE Princeton Shuttle (the “Dinky”) to the Princeton Station. The Art Museum is a short walk from the station. (Total trip time: 1 hr 40 mins). Return trip: 4:25pm NJ Transit to Penn Station.  LIRR fare EACH WAY: $16.00 (adults); $7.35 (seniors).


Friday January 26-Restaurant Club-5 Napkin Burger -Time Out rates the 5 Napkin Burgers as a  contender for the “Battle of the Burger 2017” if you like a juicy great special burger come try the Original 5 Napkin Burger, Italian Turkey Burger or the Ahi Tuna Burger you will have a few starters ,sides and a great desert. Location: 150 East 14 Street (Union Square)

Monday January 29– Benefits on the Computer – Emblem Health-(www.emblemhealth.com) - Join the retiree benefits staff and our expert computer staff in our computer lab for a two-hour class on finding valuable information on the Emblem Health website!  Space is limited.Time: 10:00am -12:00pm.   


Wednesday January 31-Uber, Lyft and Airbnb - What They Are, and How to Safely Use Them-The “sharing economy”- ride sharing, car sharing, home sharing has boomed in the last few years. Come learn how to set them up on your computer and smartphone and use them.  Learn the rules and your rights and what you should watch out for. Time: 10:00 am-2:00pm
