Individual Benefit Reviews


Benefits in Brief:

Optical -Your Optical Benefit includes one eye exam and one pair of prescription eyeglasses (or contact lenses) per person, per calendar year. You may   use one of the 3 providers (General Vision, Vision Screening or Comprehensive Professional Systems) for the inclusive benefit package. A maximum benefit of $125 per person, per calendar year is provided if you use your own optometrist. A maximum of four claims per family, per calendar year. Mondays-December 3, 10-Your Mac and You -Finally, a class just for Mac users! You'll learn the Mac way of doing things (which is much simpler than Windows), including email, photos, cool apps, music, iCloud, backing up, and much more! Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm

Thursday, December 6-Photography Trip to Breathtaking Hindu Temple (Largest in America) in Robbinsville, NJ-Enjoy hours of beauty, peace and discovery at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir – a masterpiece of exquisite Indian design and workmanship. Marvel at the intricate marble carvings, and learn about the world’s oldest living faith – Hinduism. There is a cafe on the premises featuring Indian vegetarian cuisine (or you can bring your lunch).MEETING 9:00AM AT PENN STATION. We are taking the 9:37am train to Princeton Junction. We will be sharing cabs/Uber to the temple (est. fare: $5 each way). We will have about 3.5 hours on location. ROUND TRIP TRAIN FARE:  Seniors (62 and over) - $14.70, Adults: $32.00

 

Monday, December 10-A Night Out/ Local 1180 Retirees on Broadway! -Your fellow retirees have been working all season to write, produce and star in their own productions that they will perform on the Great White Way! All the lights will shine for them that night! Don’t miss out on these must see performances! Cost for Dinner and Show $35. Show Only Tickets $15 Time: Dinner 4:30pm at Mom’s Kitchen & Bar Comfort Food- 701 9th Avenue at 48th street. Showtime:7:00pm. Wednesday, December 12-Uber, Lyft and Airbnb - What They Are, and How to Safely Use Them-The “sharing economy” -ride sharing, car sharing, home sharing has boomed in the last few years. Learn how to set them up on your smartphone and use them, the rules and your rights, and what you should watch out for. Time:10:00am-2:00pm

 

Wednesday, December 12-Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes-This is where the unmistakable spirit of Christmas in New York City comes alive. If you have not seen this show it’s a must and if you have, keep the tradition! Location: 1260 6th avenue between 50 & 51st Street. Tickets must be picked up in advance. Popcorn and soft beverage included. Time: 2:00pm Orchestra seats!

Thursday, December 13-Grace Farms River Building in New Canaan, CT-This stunning “River Building” was built to resemble an imaginary river. The building of glass, concrete, steel, and wood is in essence a single long roof, which seems to float above the surface of the ground as it twists and turns across the landscape. You can actually walk all the through it. (Yes - it’s INDOORS!) Admission is FREE! Afterwards we’ll visit the charming and quaint New Canaan, where we’ll choose from some excellent restaurants, including Ching’s Table, Rosie’s and Tequila Mockingbird. MEETING AT GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL AT 9:30AM. (Meet in front of the information booth with the clock on top.) We are taking the 10:04am train to New Canaan. Round trip fare: $23 (adults), $15 (seniors). Return on the 4:26pm train to Grand Central.

 

Thursday, December 13 -Birthday Wishes- If your birthday falls between September and December, come in and celebrate your birthday with your fellow retirees!  What is a party without cupcakes and a special gift for the birthday retiree! Time:1:00 pm-3:00pm

 

Friday December14 -Spirit Cruise-Jingle Bells Lunch Cruise -Join fellow retirees for holiday fun on The Spirit of New York cruise it’s festive an offers buffet lunch, DJ entertainment and a scenic harbor tour on the Hudson River. Time: Board 11:30am Cruise 12:00pm-2:00pm Location: Chelsea Pier 61 (Cross Street 23rd & 12th Ave) Price $60.00
