Benefits in Brief:

The Retirees Benefit Fund provides retirees and eligible dependents with supplemental benefits.  The supplemental benefits are as follows:  General Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental, Optical, Mental Health, Hearing Aid, Podiatry,  and Legal. The following benefits require you fill out a claim form within 90 days of the date of service Dental, Optical, Mental Health, Hearing Aid,  and Podiatry. If you have questions feel free to call the Retiree Division or attend one of the Retiree Benefit Events listed on the Monthly Events calendar.

Thursday July 5-Photography Trip to the newly restored Asbury Park, NJ-Asbury Park is home to many attractions and activities of which visitors can take advantage. You’ll find a revitalized beach Boardwalk that’s better than ever. Unique shops, eclectic restaurants where we will dine with breathtaking views of the ocean, and the crown jewel—the restored Paramount Theater and Convention Hall. It’s easy to get there via rail direct from Penn Station to Asbury Park. WE ARE MEETING AT PENN STATION (8th Ave & 33rd st entrance) at 9:15am and taking the 9:46am NJ TRANSIT train to Asbury Park (return on the 3:29pm to Penn Station). FARE EACH WAY IS $16.25 (adults); $7.35 (seniors).

 

Friday July 6-Indoor Barbeque -Come enjoy our annual “Indoor Barbeque” to celebrate Independence Day with fellow retirees and staff. Time: 12:00pm -2:00pm

 

Monday July 9 -Retiree Benefit Overview & General Medical Benefit- Come in out of the heat and learn about your supplemental benefits, Medicare. A complete overview of the supplemental benefits will be provided along with a special emphasis on the General Medical benefit and how to utilize it for you and your family. Wednesday July 11- NEW SEMINAR: Social Media and Your Privacy-How to erase yourself from Facebook, Google, etc. We all heard the news that your privacy is NOT Facebook’s and Google’s priority, it’s up to you. Learn how to find out what data Facebook and Google have on you, how to limit what they see, and, if you choose to, delete your info. Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm

 

Monday July16 -Staten Island Yankees -The ball park is located one block from the Staten Island Ferry. Must pick up tickets in advance! Game starts at 11:00am.  Meet group at Staten Island Ferry 9:30am to travel together or we will meet you at your seat. Price $15 includes admission and a $10 value debit card good for food and drink in ball park.

 

Tuesday July 17-Metropolitan Museum of  Art-A guided tour of the exhibit “Painted in Mexico (1700-1790)”. The vitality and inventiveness of artists in eighteenth-century New Spain (Mexico) is the focus of this exhibition, which presents some 110 works of art (primarily paintings), many of which are unpublished and newly restored. The exhibition surveys the most important artists and stylistic developments of the period and highlights the emergence of new pictorial genres and subjects. We’ll show you how to clean out the junk your computer’s been accumulating, protect against viruses FOR FREE, and how to BACKUP your PC or Mac. Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

 

Thursday July 19-Landlord Tenant Seminar-Sal Rosenberg will be here to discuss tenant issues related to residential tenant’s rights, understanding co-op, condo regulations Senior Citizen safety and consumer fraud prevention. Time: 10:30am-12:30pm. Salad Bar 12:30pm-1:15pm

 

Thursday July 19- NYC Health Plan Overview- Emblem Health: Kathy Smith-McElhiney will be available to answer all questions relating to Emblem HIP and GHI plans for retirees and Medicare eligible retirees.  Time: 1:30 pm- 3:00pm   

 

Wednesday July 25-WHO'S STILL SCARED OF WINDOWS 10?-So now you have Windows 10, but are you a little bit confused about how to use it? This class will get you familiar, as well as show you the new and exciting things you can do with Windows 10! Including internet, email, calendar and folder. Time:10:00am-12:00pm

Thursday July 26 - Return to the Twin Cities: Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA-A gathering of antiques shops, eclectic galleries and comfortable eateries clustered on the banks of the scenic Delaware River makes Lambertville a delightful town to tour, and it's only a short, pleasant stroll across the Delaware River to its sister town, New Hope, in historic Bucks County, PA, which offers unique shops and restaurants, and scenic views from the other side. Thursday July 26 -Optical Benefit Provider- General Vision Services: Dawn Correa, Senior Account Representative will be on hand to answer all questions relating to the Optical benefit offered by General Vision.  Also Dawn Correa will bring a screener to check  your vision or your glasses!

Thursday July 26 - Ice Cream Social- Come with your own brown bag lunch and then enjoy delicious ice cream sundaes with all the fixins’ and or old fashion ice cream cone with sprinkles! Cool off with some ice cream with your fellow retirees!  Time: 1:30 pm -3:00 pm

 

Friday July 27 – Spirit Statue of Liberty Lunch Cruise – Cruise around Manhattan and see the  best views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines including world-famous sights like the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty & more. On board entertainment with music, dancing and DJ. Location: Chelsea Piers. Meet at pier 61 at 10:30am Sharp to get tickets.
