Work for a nonprofit? Want to join a union? New York City is home to more than 10,000 nonprofit organizations, the vast majority of which lack unions. That means nonprofit workers are often underpaid, undervalued, and overworked, with little say over their working conditions. With CWA Local 1180, you can be part of changing that. Local 1180 has launched a new organizing campaign to unionize workers at nonprofit organizations. Local 1180 has already helped staffers unionize at major nonprofits such as Human Rights Watch and Planned Parenthood of New York City. With a union, these workers now have the ability to negotiate collectively over pay, benefits, employment security, health and safety, retirement, and more. And they have the ability to negotiate over policies that affect promotions, layoffs, and other aspects of their jobs. Maybe unionizing is right for you and your coworkers, too.
