Local 1180 officers reelected All Local 1180 officers were re-elected for a three-year term in October’s vote, though some new members-at-large were elected to the local’s executive board. President Arthur Cheliotes, First Vice President Linda Jenkins, Recording Secretary Gwen Richardson, and Secretary-Treasurer Gloria Middleton all ran unopposed and were reelected. In a contested election for second vice president, Bill Henning faced Tanya Moore-Thompson and won reelection, 538 to 443. Ten members ran for nine member-at-large spots on the executive board, and the following candidates were elected: Jerry Brown, with 794 votes; Lenora Smith, 792; Gina Phillips-Strickland, 778; Bernadette Sullivan, 776; Charles Garcia, 774; Alan Goldblatt, 743; Clarona Williams, 742; Hazel Worley, 725; and Harlan Reid, 690. Ron Bigler, with 454 votes, was not elected. Worley and Reid are the only two new members of the executive board; all the other winning candidates were reelected. Exactly 7,742 eligible members received ballots by mail on October 6; only ballots returned by Friday, October 21, at 5 p.m. were counted. A total of 1,014 ballots were received, the equivalent of a 13 percent voter turnout. They were counted by the impartial American Arbitration Association.
