City contract proposal being costed out

July 2007

Local 1180 president Arthur Cheliotes reports that the bargaining committee representing the union's City workers is scheduled to meet with Deputy Commissioner of Labor Renee Campion on August 23 for a fourth negotiating session on a new contract. The contract being negotiated would cover Local 1180 members who work for City agencies and the Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC). Additional representatives of the Office of Labor Relations, along with representatives of the City's Office of Management and Budget, will also attend.

Cheliotes says he has received the City's calculations on the costs of the current proposal, which he is running by the union's own costing experts in advance of the August 23 meeting.

Local 1180 members who work for the City and HHC have been without a contract since September 6, 2006. Negotiations for the contract began on January 18 of this year.
