Payout
dates for city contract Payout dates for the economic improvements from the recently concluded contract with the City of New York have been announced. For most members in mayoral agencies, the $1,000 bonus will be paid with the July 16 payroll. For members in the Human Resources Administration (HRA) working in the Associate Job Opportunity Specialist (AJOS) title, the bonus will be paid with the July 30 payroll. [This delay is the city's fault, as it neglected initially to do the necessary work to get the bonuses for people from different unions in this one title properly processed.] The retroactive pay from the 3% raise effective July 1, 2003, will be paid for all members in Mayoral agencies (including AJOS) with the August 13 payroll. We have not yet received a date for the implementation of the July 1, 2004, increase of 2%. Local 1180 full-time per annum members at the Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) will receive the $1,000 bonus with the July 30 payroll, and part timers will receive it August 6. The July 1, 2003, 3% raise will be paid with the August 13 payroll for full-timers, and on August 20 for part-timers. All HHC members will receive the increases in "additions to gross" on the August 27 payroll. Local 1180 members at the Housing Authority have a separate contract. It is customary for the union and the Housing Authority to sign a letter of agreement after the city contract is settled, providing for the same economic terms, so that those members can receive any retroactive raises as soon as possible (bargaining on other issues then continues). The union has done just that and Housing Authority members will receive the $1,000 bonus with the July 22 payroll. A date for the July 1, 2003, 3% raise payout has not yet been set. The Transit Authority similarly has a separate contract and customarily signs a letter of agreement adopting the city's economic terms. Transit Authority members are scheduled to receive the $1000 bonus on the last pay date in August, and the 3% increase retroactive to July 1, 2003. Further negotiations are necessary before any further adjustments will be made. In the past, the Board of Education contract was also a separate contract that, like the Housing and Transit Authorities, followed the economic terms set by the city contract. The most recent round of bargaining was the first since the Board of Education was restructured into the Department of Education and brought under mayoral control. Unbeknownst to 1180 until well after negotiations with the city had been concludedbecause no one in the city or the Department of Education ever bothered to tell the unionthe Department of Education agreed to the terms and signed the city contract. Members in the DOE will therefore be getting their increases on the same schedule as the other mayoral agenciesJuly 16 for the $1000 bonus and August 13 for the 3% increase, retroactive to July 1, 2003. Local 1180 will post more information as soon as we have it. Back to Worksite Organizing page
