Arthritis Exercise
Lichiana Amigo, Instructor     Fee: $10  
 Monday (No class February 21)   10:30 – 12:00pm
Exercise is an essential part of managing your Arthritis.   Exercise reduces joint pain and stiffness, builds strong muscle around the joints, and increases flexibility and endurance. It reduces inflammation and the risk of other chronic conditions as well.  This class is designed specifically for people with arthritis and uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion with the practical application to improving your daily activities.
Yoga

Relaxation techniques such as breathing, meditation, stretching and overall body toning will lead you to a sense of health and wellbeing.  Ohhmmmmm.
Let's Dance

Join in on the fun and reap the benefits of exercise by learning dance routines.  Class includes warm ups, step combinations and the fundamentals of modern, blues, jazz and swing dance.  No partner necessary. 
Aqua Fitness

This full-body low-impact workout contains no demands, yet offers constant movement and motivation. Water aerobics uses all the major muscle groups, yet there is no strain on joints since all movements are under water. Improve stretching, balance, strength and coordination.  People participate according to their own personal levels. Be strong, get fit and have fun in the pool.  These classes are ideal for all fitness levels.

Knitting

People of all ages—more than 50 million—know how to knit & crochet with yarn because it’s fun, relaxing and you can make great things.  Knitting is an amazing hobby that fulfills a need to be creative and results in one-of-a-kind beautiful projects like sweaters, socks, pillows, dolls and teddy bears, to name a few.  You will learn basic stitches and advanced applications that you would be proud to wear or display in your home. This class is for beginners and skilled knitters.

Pilates

Your core, that is the muscles in your midsection. abdomen, and back, are essential to your strength and fitness.  Pilates is a type of exercise that focusses on these parts of the body, with proven results for improvement of balance, toning and strength.  Take this class and feel it!

Computer Classes – 8 week
Music & Video On The Computer

Learn how to download music, audiobooks and videos on the computer.  Use iTunes and other applications to make albums and burn CD’s. Learn how to use and iPod or another type of MP3 player. 

Introduction to the Computer

This introductory course will take you step by step through basic computer functions.  Internet search skills, basic word processing, saving files and much more will be covered in this course.  If you are new to computer and want to find out all you need to know, join in this introductory and very interesting class.

Digital Photagraphy

Tuesday    10:00am – 12:00pm

Learn how to use your digital camera and develop and store them on the computer.  Send photos by email and enhance pictures.  Loads of fun will be had by all.  This class frequently goes on field trips within NYC. 

Advanced Computing & Internet Skills

Apply all of your basic skills and learn how to make flyers, use various software packages, and learn how to take full advantage of the computer and World Wide Web.

How To Use Your Computer, Optimally-New!

Now that you’ve made a great purchase, find out everytbing you need to know to use and maintain it.  This class will cover things like how to open mail, send pictures, search, security issues, downloading, plus how to manage some of the junk that ends up on your computer.  Learn about basic maintenance as well as when to call in a professional.  This class addresses current real issues you have about using your computer.  Bring your questions and use your computer optimally! This class is for retirees who have some idea how to use their computers.  (Class participants should own a computer, have it out of the box and hooked up to internet already). 

More Introduction to Computers

You took the Introduction to Computers Class, but you still need MORE!  Take this class as a follow up to the Introduction Class and understand what you didn't catch the first time through.

Songwriting

Lalala la la lala.  humm hummmmhummm hmmm.  Have you ever thought of writing a song or putting a favorite poem or thoughts to music.  This interesting and fun class will let you do it!  Gifted instructor, Computer Teach and Opera singer Victor Carr will teach you what you need to know.  No experience necessary.  Just come and have fun.  (Singing out loud is optional. Instructor will be happy to carry the tune that you wrote.)  Come and try.
