What is Drupal?
Drupal is an online Content Management System (CMS) used by union and affiliated-employer online sites across the country (through contracts with CWA 1180 member firm United Web Services, Inc.) to help them improve their communications with members and constituents.

As the communications infrastructure for America develops over the 21st Century, we believe Drupal training will be a valuable asset.
Being new to Drupal (as I am), you may be interested in a few facts:
1. A Google search on the word "Drupal" currently yields 19.6 million results
2. 1% of all web sites world-wide are now built with Drupal.

Our initial training, beginning Nov. 8th, will cover basic programming so that Local 1180’s members will learn to be fully equipped to build, manage, and administer these sites.
Before you respond, I must mention that this will not be a easy program. Like martial arts, or chess, or learning a new language, you will learn best by "playing;" growing adept through continued practice, and doing the regular class assignments in collaboration with your instructors.
A background in any kind of technology or computers or programming is helpful, but not required. The ability to problem-solve and think creatively is key, as well as the patience and discipline that will be required to master a new skill. We will administer a qualification exam to ensure that each participant in the upcoming classes has the potential to succeed.
At the October General Membership Meeting, we will provide additional details. An online link to register for the orientation and qualification examination will soon be made available.
