It’s back! 1180 PRIDE, the union’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender committee has come back with a new Chairperson, Robert Ortiz. 1180 PRIDE is open to all union members, whether you identify as LGBT or not. In this world, discrimination is discrimination, no matter who it affects.
1180 PRIDE’s mission is to be a safe haven for all LGBT members to be themselves, to speak about issues concerning our community, and to fight for our own rights in the workplace.
The committee looks forward to educating everyone through fundraising events, outreach partnerships, and celebrating our identity and presence within Local 1180.
It’s about unity and breaking down barriers. Come check us at our next meeting, April 28, 2010, 6:00 p.m. @ 6 Harrison Street (Union Headquarters). We can’t wait to meet you!
